Why Locals Love Did You Eat Yet?

Did You Eat Yet? is a vibrant Haitian restaurant and convenience store located at 700 Albany St, Boston, MA, that offers an authentic taste of Haiti right in the heart of the city. This spot is a true gem for those craving bold, comforting Caribbean flavors expertly crafted with heart and tradition.

The restaurant’s culinary offerings focus on classic Haitian dishes that promise rich, layered flavors and generous portions. Among the must-try favorites is their half pan of Stew Chicken, where tender, fall-off-the-bone poultry is slow-cooked in a savory sauce, making it irresistibly juicy and aromatic. Paired perfectly with their half pan of White Rice, a soft, fluffy staple lightly seasoned to enhance but not overpower, this pairing is a harmonic balance of textures and tastes.

For those looking to feed a crowd or enjoy a family-style experience, Did You Eat Yet? offers larger pans like the full pan of Rice and Beans. This hearty dish is a comforting blend of seasoned rice with slow-cooked red beans infused with herbaceous aromatics, pulling you into a warm, homey embrace with every bite. Additionally, their signature Half Pan of Pikliz adds a spicy, tangy kick—a pickled vegetable medley that refreshes the palate and complements the richness of the other dishes perfectly.

One highlight that stands out is the exclusive Friday Oxtail specials. Whether you opt for the large or small oxtail servings, these slow-cooked cuts are decadently tender with a depth of flavor that’s both savory and satisfying, earning their loyal following.

Beyond the sit-down meals, Did You Eat Yet? doubles as a convenience store, stocking a carefully curated selection of snacks like Plantain Chips, Honey Buns, Skittles Sour, and various popular bars and treats—perfect for guests to take a little Haitian flair with them on the go.

The atmosphere reflects a casual and welcoming environment, more of a friendly neighborhood spot than a formal dining room. Guests repeatedly praise the warm, personable service, with staff members like Annie creating an attentive and genuine dining experience that feels like coming home to a family meal. Owner Benz’s passion radiates through both the food and the welcoming spirit of the place, heightening the sense of community and authenticity.

Patrons rave about the food’s authenticity and value, describing it as some of the best Haitian cuisine in Boston. From the fragrant, expertly spiced black rice to the homemade lemonade that offers just the right refreshing contrast, every detail feels deliberate and heartfelt.

Whether you are familiar with Haitian cooking or discovering it for the first time, Did You Eat Yet? invites you to indulge in a rich cultural experience full of flavor, warmth, and genuine hospitality. It’s more than just a meal—it’s a celebration of Haitian culinary heritage that will leave you satisfied and eager to return.

I saw this restaurant on Chronicle a few months ago and have been wanting to try it ever since. Absolutely lived up to my massive expectations. Great staff, big smiles and excellent service. Most importantly: huge portions of delicious authentic Haitian cuisine. The black rice was incredible and the chicken was literally fall off the bone. Definitely will be going back and the owner Benz is a great guy! Go here. You won’t regret it!

Overall a really good experience. This isn’t a traditional sit-down restaurant, but everything was smooth and easy. Annie was the server and she was great super friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was handled right. Customer service definitely stood out. Food was good, quick, and hit the spot. The setup is simple and casual, which works for what it is. Big shoutout to Annie she made the experience even better. Would come back again. Was our very first time
